Quite possibly the most significant oxymoron present in modern liberalism.

 

That's the catch-22 of government work. The people who are knowledgeable enough about the subject to have a fucking clue, are probably from the private sector and have ties to for-profit businesses. The founding fathers knew this, and called upon these knowledgeable people to set aside their business interests temporarily and perform their duty as citizens in a fair and responsible manner. Honestly, I'm less concerned about a billionaire who accepts a position in the government late in their career than I am a career government employee who is planning on "retiring" to private industry after their government career ends.

 

I think Ted Cruz put a bill together that prevents those that hold a position in Congress cannot then become lobbyists. Me thinks it should be both ways. But then the fact we don't have term limits really pisses me off. My voting strategy is easy lately - anybody but the incumbent regardless of party.
