Thinking about buying one. The reviews look great but I thought I’d ask the all knowing beeb.

    Anything to watch out for?

My brother had an 08 350 and still has a 2014 350. He bought both from Mecum auctions. Seemed like solid card, I'm gonna text him right now.

Ask him specifically about the 2014 please. The 2010 to 2016 was it’s own generation. That’s why I’m interested in buying a 2016 as opposed to a 2017 or 18. My theory is every time they come out with a new gen, it takes a year or two to get the kinks out. Especially with transmissions. And they jumped from a seven speed to a nine speed in 2017.

Don't know the 400's but E350 is their bread and butter car its very well executed and won't offend anyone.

    Bleh. Boring. Floats. No power.

All of those are what the boss said when she tested one. Considering it was when we traded in the CTS-V the salesman (a former WERA racer) laughed and told her she wouldn't be happy with any Mercedes until she could afford one with the letters AMG on it :D

Considered that one for a minute because it’s a really good looking car. Nearest dealer support is over an hour away though.

Is that concern lower or higher on the list compared to how much poultry it can haul?

Wife has a 2014 E550 convertible. Loves it. Bought it CPO from a dealer in Houston and drove it back to ATL over a long weekend. Rides great, handles better than a car that weight should, and has a great motor (twin turbo V8). Very conservative hp/tq numbers IMHO (400hp/440tq @1600rpm). Plenty of room inside the car, drives very quiet for a convertible, and no issues at all.

the only thing I've seen is the E models to consider are the front brake rotors. Hers had just a slight bit of pulsing when be got it and it got worse as we have put miles on the car. Dealer said they won't cover them under warranty and everything I read said that the OE rotors would continue to do the same thing. I checked with a friend that works at a major car parts place and he said the same thing. Not many aftermarket options either, so I just bought some aftermarket ones off amazon and rolled the dice. Put on new rotors and pads and haven't had any issues since (maybe 20k miles?). I knew about the rotors when I bought it but that was really the only glaring error on mercedes part on the car. If you look at the car fax reports on any of the CPO cars, they have usually had a few sets of rotors replaced.

She didn't have much interest in the 350/400 mainly because she wanted the hp. She had an E46 M3 6mt in the past and wanted something like it but bigger, more reliable (had motor issues in the M3), and a nicer car. The interior is excellent (heated and vented seats, neck "scarf" heated air thingy, nice leather, all sorts of electronics, comfy seats, etc). He mother had an E sedan that was an older model so she didn't want a "grandmother" car. The E550 fit the bill. But they are harder to find (especially in the convertible, I looked for about 6 months for the color combo she wanted (white w/ tan interior), low mileage, CPO, etc). Lots more 350/400's to choose from if you want to go that route.

Oh yeah and it's thirsty. And doesn't like rear tires. It's got Michelins on it, she's always complaining they don't hook up when she gets on the gas hard pulling into traffic. lol. She wants it to haul off the stop like my Touareg. :).

I have a 2010 E350 4MATIC. It is a great car, though it isn't meant to be a hot-rod. Bought it for $17.5k with 60k miles with complete maintenance records, 18 months ago. All the bells and whistles.

The rotors pulse, MB says it is a feature not a bug. I notice it more when in cruise control going down a hill as it tries to maintain speed. Not so much as I use the brakes. Though I am going to replace them soon.

The car is a great driver. Handles great. Very comfortable.
If you want to hustle it around corners push the 'C' button and use the paddle shifters. It comport itself adequately. But again it is not a hot-rod.

If repair work is done at a dealer it usually lists what was done to the vehicle. On the last truck I bought it showed when tires had been replaced and that the AC compressor had been replaced under warranty at the Chevy dealer.
