I had no idea Tylenol also did that. I rarely if ever take any pain meds, if anything though its usually Advil or Alieve (didn't look into if they have the same effects). But shouldn't this be something included in the labeling?

So many of those "safe" drugs are fucking terrible for you. The goddamned FDA is supposed to be protecting citizens, but all it really does is make sure the drug and food companies have another marketing tool to sell us all poison.

I mean sometimes unintended consequences can be good.....just at Viagra; started out as a blood pressure medication then all the test subjects started getting meat missiles lol.

Maybe you happen to be a misanthrope and you WANT to dose yourself with Tylenol :D

Blame the drug that soothes your pain versus the woman who gave you the pain?

And yet you think they can handle fixing the student debt issue. Government...always improving things.

that's the rub... if .gov is in, they trash it. if .gov is out, greed and manipulation goes rampant.

Wow, kind of glad Evelyne prefer Tylenol over Advil. Can't imagine her with more positive empathy

Competition leads to innovation and reduces costs. The only thing I want government involved in is to make sure the companies are not dumping toxic waste and there are no monopolies. I will also concede their involvement in making sure the end user doesn't grow a fourth nipple from the drug.

The government isn't inherently bad or evil, it's just that it takes a special kind of person to be motivated to do a good job in government work. You really need someone with good values who will stand up for what's right in spite of the money. Unfortunately, those people are rare, so what happens instead is the non-caring idiots in the government default to the wishes of the big companies that are throwing money at whatever senator, rep, or director and twist the "rules" to benefit the company at the expense of the people the government is supposed to protect. It's really sad and sickening.

That's one thing the Euro's really have on us. Their food and pharma policies are lightyears ahead of ours, and for the most part, seem to be geared towards the benefit of the citizen instead of the profit of the companies.

There is no way I can believe this sorry. Especially since the US companies go to Europe all the time for testing due to more lax requirements (and have been since at least the early 80's, step mom did a lot of it for P&Gs drug companies).

A lot of things that are considered experimental in the US are regular practice in Europe. I think it has more to do with insurance and bureaucracy than safety.

I never said safety one way or the other but they are not doing stuff there for higher idealistic reasons, they are still profit driven.

I don't disagree with the competition aspect but I don't trust companies to be ethical on their own. If there was no .gov oversight, how crazy would FB or Google go? People want/need some .gov intervention but the debate is how much.

Most of what I’m referring to is food related. I know lots of additives commonly used here are banned there. I can’t speak to too much on the medical side, but for instance, Steve Jobs went over there for some sort of cancer treatment not available in the us.

I gave three criteria they should be involved in. What more do you think they need?
