I work with a bunch of dieselheads that work on heavy duty equipment. I can inquire if any are interested in a side job. The ones I am thinking of are in Oklahoma and Texas though.

Jeez, making me rack my brain here. '73 was a like a 2.2 or 2.3 4 cylinder with a cam chain, right? Nothing complex in it but if you just tool around in it and leave it at idle a lot the timing belt gets all wonky and causes the injectors to go out of time.

Really, any tractor mechanic could fix that thing but I'd look for someone that knows the engine like you are doing.

Or put that lump in the garage, buy an already rebuilt one and drop that in.

The guy I bought it from said the rings are bad , the blowby is a little out of control ! And it has zero power , they have don’t have power when running good but this thing is struggling . I considered a drop in but that’s never as easy as planned . I’d be content with just a rebuild and let it rip . It’s just a weekend toy

Call safari hp in Orlando. They mostly do full restorations but could probably recommend. Also try the Florida land rover Facebook page

I use a guy on my work trucks. He is a pretty good diesel mech.

Also needs someone kinda knowledgeable on those. Just any old friend who works on diesels ain’t gonna cut it. Just my opinion.

Unfortunately, they don't crash very well. Anti-lock brakes should be re-named anti-stop brakes. This thing isn't repairable for any reasonable cost. Luckily, I have a spare one.
