My current company doesn't allow us to fly anything other than economy...even international. 8-9 hour flights to Europe in economy are not pleasant...

The May trip that I had mentioned earlier in this thread is a personal trip that I booked a few months ago. I splurged and bought a Business Class ticket for many reasons, not the least of which is lounge access during my layovers. I just went back, for shits and giggles, to look at booking that same itinerary now (still more than 2 months out). It would now cost me more than 150% of what I paid back then.

  4. Took me about 3 minutes this morning to get through atl immigration. I used mobile pass as there was less traffic than global entry.

  5. I’m looking at flights for sunday to the U.K. another 10k. Nice thing about virgin upper class is they take me the 60 mikes to the office in a Range Rover, I snag someone’s car when I’m there then they pick me up at hotel back to airport. Little crap like that makes life easier.

  6. Global Entry is getting slow. Lots more „random“ Xs and luggage inspections.

Global Entry is pretty damn full up any more.

Global Entry vs Mobile Passport, it is a crap shoot, most days I breeze thru Global, but I have had days where Mobile was moving quicker. It is usually a staffing issue with Global that slows that line down. For a one time international trip, definitely use Mobile Passport.

  9. That’s exactly why I always have mobile passport ready, you get used to scanning the lines and gambling on the best one. I was in my car in the Int’l parking garage less than 25 minutes after the gate opened which also included having a couple smokes outside before getting on the parking shuttle.

  10. I“m an E-Gates registered traveler here in Germany. I can be in my car or on the train in FRA in less than 15 minutes after landing from an international flight. Anyone with a US passport is eligible to sign up.

If you regularly travel to Germany, it’s worth it. In FRA the signup place is the Bundespolizei Station in Terminal 1 next to the Lufthansa First Class chexk in. Takes 10 minutes to sign up.

Note that this also works on outbound. Instead of standing in the endless All Other Passports line with the rest of the foreigners, you start shouting that you are E-Gates eligible. Staff will pull you out of the line and escort you to the E-Gstes.
