Winter storm Petra laying the smackdown!

Well I dunno what they are calling it in South Dakota but Sioux Falls got a foot of snow overnight. Gonna be fun next couple of days.

 

Damn. Its coming down pretty good here. Got in by 6, so I'll split about noon-1pm to beat traffic. I think I'll take a nap on the couch.

 

Got about 6 inches overnight here in KC

 

Started in bmore at 8am. Might be 1" on the ground now at 10

 

Rain here in Milf.

 

About 1" on the pavement and 2" on the ground. Was mixed a minute ago, but just changed back to fairly heavy snow. Temps are supposed to be back above freezing by mid-afternoon and then hopefully most of this rains off.

 

Record snow falls in Iowa. A full foot and a half cover remaining on ground and calling for another six. Which is good because we need the sub soil moisture when it does a slow melt.

 

My work closed its office today, this has been glorious. Also, there's only one Petra, and that's Bernhard. Don't besmirch that name with some rinky dink snows:

Not to be confused with Patra. (Probably one, maybe two of y'all know who that is without resorting to googles.)

 

They were calling for 3-5" here with freezing drizzle on top of that. Wound up with maybe 1.5" and a bunch of it started melting right away. That's fine though, we've had just about enough in the past 3 weeks, thank you.
