When you say the rest of the world, you mean like the UK where they had just over half of the number of spectators? Or do you mean like in Spain where they had just about 1/3 of the number of spectators?

Please don't take offense to this, but I find published figures to be a bit more reliable than you subjectively eyeballin' it.

I take no offense to it whatsoever. I can only tell you the crowds have been noticeably different - and not just to me. According to a lot of digging attendance for 2016 was 61k, 2017 64k and 2018 64k. Flat the last 2 years and those are 3 day totals. I've heard other claims of "yuge, record attendance" at certain events where the pictures told a different story. It's a blessing and a curse it won't hit MotoGP levels. We'll be there every year they come though. Hitting Indycar there too.

    PSA.....

Ok so seriously, I was curious about the hotels there. There are places in Monterey for like $250/nt. Same rate as a couple weeks later in the month.

SO...better book those rooms now if your going.

I stayed at a super 8 in Monterey this past July for around $100/night. I just checked and the same hotel for that weekend is over $500/night for a damn super 8!

Laguna is one track where unless its raining... camping is worth it. You never have to leave the track!

Why would it be illegal? Betcha they'll fill the rooms anyways.

Same reason it is illegal for gas stations to do it I am guessing.

Are we talking about in emergencies or just supply and demand?

Interesting... Guess I was looking more as compared to MotoGP has like 90K+ on just a Sunday.

WSBK is the equivalent of like AA minor league at these figures.

Well I'd think raising prices 500 % for an event would be considered price gouging and isn't that illegal ? Especially in Cal. where they love to make laws ?
I don't know, I'm just really surprised they can get away with it.

No one has to go there though. To my knowledge, that typically only comes into play in emergencies when someone doesn't really have a choice.

If I was a hotel owner and could either rent all my rooms for $150 or $400, it's not really a hard choice.
