Of all the things I respect him for like desert storm and the CIA, I think most highly about his WWII service. RIP Vet.

I'm re-reading a book called "Fly boys". In it there is a detailed write-up about GHW Bush's escape from Chi Chi Jima. He was so close to being captured and subsequently killed (then eaten!) by the lunatic commander of that island....Every one knows about Iwo Jima...Chi Chi Jima took just as much bravery by the airmen.

Yup. A political career, especially one which lands you in the most criticized job in the history of the world, will dilute your previous accomplishments. I hope people understand and remember his contribution in the Pacific. A true war hero.

    RIP, Lieutenant.

Sadly, I didn't think he would make it a year after losing Barbara. Rest in peace.

My thoughts exactly. After 70 years of marriage, I imagine he was lost without her. RIP, Mr. President.
