We are taking my 6 y/o to the Dixie Stampede in Pigeon Forge December 28th. Suggestions for hotels for 2-3 nights wife, child, grandparent and me.

    Thanks

Tons of options, you could have more to choose from in Gatlinburg, and a short drive over to pigeon forge,We always go back and forth when we go up.
Haven't been there in yrs. but the last time we went was on a Christmas eve, stayed a couple of nights. You're son will Love the Christmas lights!
You could also find a deal on a cabin too for the whole family.

  3. I second the cabin recommendation. The hotels in that area are crap.

I 3rd the cabin idea. Might cost a little more, but it will be WAY nicer than a hotel. They're as big as a house, hot tub, pool table, home theater.

Another for chalet/cabin rental. We rented one through Amazing Views, and were satisfied. They're a middle man, but its a starting point. Also try VRBO.

We stayed at a new hotel that was built last year when we were there this summer and it was great. However, it has recently been acquired by Hilton and now the rates are really expensive. I highly recommend Black Fox Inn though.

Old Creek Lodge in Gatlinburg is where I like to stay. To me Gatlinburg is where to be then drive to pigeon forge for the stuff you wanna do there. You about have to drive everywhere you wanna go in Pigeon forge anyway where you can walk the strip in the Burg.

Sevierville is a pretty good place to find a cabin, kind of in the middle of PF and Gatlinburg. You'll want to try to stay closer to PF though, that time of year is bonkers there and traffic will suck.

  17. What else would you eat the morning after a long night of drinking Bud Lite in the hotel room while watching reality tv after the kids have gone to bed?

Gatlinburg - Bearskin Lodge or Hilton Garden. Both have street access to downtown but are also a little off the main drag so a bit more quiet. Or so a friend shared w me who goes a couple times per year.
