I'm not familiar with them at all, which would you choose between a Honda Civic Coupe EX-L, Honda Civic Sedan EX-L, or a Honda Civic Hatchback EX-L? Is it big enough for a guy who is 6'6" and 290 lbs?
I like the hatchback for the practicality. It's pretty easy to fit your bicycle or other bigger stuff in the hatch. Plus I think it looks pretty cool. At your size, there is no compact car that won't make you feel cramped, but the Civic is probably one of the roomiest in this category.
I am 6’2 280 kinda built like a lineman for a football team and the only compact I ever had room in was a Kia Forte... plus they handle very well.
I would think anything sedan would give you more room than a coupe/hatchback. No scenario is going to allow somebody to sit behind you, though.
All three of those cars will be EXACTLY the same from the drivers seat. The only real difference will be that the coupe will have larger doors (since there's only two and all). You "might" also have more seat travel in the coupe, but probably not because of the shorter wheelbase and parts sharing (cheaper to use the same seat tracks). Why don't you just hustle down to your nearest Honda dealership and actually sit in one of each?
Getting into the 4 door sucks, got more neck cricks in the bosses car than anything else we've ever owned. Depending on your leg length I'm probably as tall as you in the torso. I'd give a 2-door a shot first. Overall decent a to b cars, nothing bad, nothing great. Once in there is room enough to drive relatively comfortably for an econo box.
Don't expect to be happy if you're driving with a passenger, either. I'm 5'9" 240-245ish lbs, and in a small civic/sedan like that I'm in my seat and part of the passenger side. the contoured bucket seat sides are digging into my back on the inside, too.
