    Not sure it was cucumber smell but I was "hit" by copperhead hunting at fort campbell. There was definitely a distinct smell prior to the smell of me shitting my pants...

    I like snakes. Since I was a kid. Went hunting for them in the woods, and creeks. Our Daughter has a 5 foot Corn Snake for a pet. But as said earlier here in the Great Midwest ( Cincy) we need not fear a venomous species - until recently.... I know several people who have seen/encountered both Copperheads and Rattlers in the last few years. ( Global Warming?? ;)) A least a Rattler will give some warning before it strikes, Copperheads no.... :eek:

    If by "blacksnake" you mean King Rat, your copperhead buddies are doomed when the rodent supply drops.
