MotoGP lap record is about 1:29.5. Vid lap shows 1:36+ on the dash. The rider sure rails some serious lean angle.
I believe he was an Italian superstock and occasional WSBK rider before becoming Ducati's head test guy.
That’s the same dude that was able to lap within 4sec of Davies’ WSBK Pole Position lap time on a bone stock 1299S (mirrors, mudflap, and all). 7 seconds off the MotoGP lap record on a bone stock production bike is fucking insane. ...especially considering the fact that while he is obviously a very good rider, he isn’t a MotoGP-lap-record-setting caliber rider. Which makes me wonder what kind of times the stock V4-S could put down with Stoner onboard. Race tires + bodywork + safety wiring = grid up.
I am wondering if the yellow light on top left of dash is the electronics package activating. Seems like it was at higher lean more so on throttle.
They should do it for purely PR purposes. That would be awesome. Stock bike with race tires, complete with mirrors. They could get some serious mileage out of that.
I think the Beeb would get even more mileage out of the fact they would probably beat the Suzuki GP effort.
