Found a used 600 out of a Radian with good compression and such, will it bolt in my FZ?

Yes. The cams are not as hot, I think. FJ600 cams drop in and are the hottest of the stock cams.

I seem to recall later radians has the stator moved to a different location, something to do with Honda trademark i think.

I think you might be right. I think the alternator ended back on the end of the crank. That shouldn't matter.

Thanks everyone. Will soon find out if an 87 will work.

the fj has 2mm larger carbs than the FZ, but the carbs will fit (just barely - frame rails are closer together on the FZ ) on the FZ with individual pods. These larger carbs will add 5hp properly tuned/jetted. You will need the intake manifolds from an FJ, they will bolt on the engine straight up.

and +1 on using fj cams for most power.
