Right, he related the engine problem, they didn't see it on their telemetry, so they asked him to pit, most likely to investigate further. I don't recall if he did the standard "swing wide" so they can push him back into the garage right away, or if he went to the pit box and they put him on the casters and then into the garage. I know Honda may want to save face and say they found nothing wrong, but I don't think there is one person out there that thinks Alonso would never just park up and quit either based on his running commentary now for the last three years on Honda engines. I think everyone can see him quitting a race out of spite.
I have been at Watkins Glen Friday and Sat for the Indy race. It's been really cold (like November) up here. It rained most of the night and it doesn't look like it will stop before the green flag. Fans would love to see Alonso in an Indy car, but that would be quite a step down for him even though he would do great even in a Honda powered Indy car.
I'm sure he has enough money. All the competitive F1 seats are taken for next year. He seems miserable where he's at. Andretti was considering moving to Chevy, but just re-signed with Honda. All good reasons to move on over. I'm hoping Newgarden can hold on to the points lead, and win it all. Always wanted to go to The Glen. IndyCars average 147mph at that track.
Newgarden looked good on Sat but that was in the dry. This morning on wets he was ok, but Rossi and Bourdais were fastest in morning warm ups on wet tires.
I think Bourdais is the most talented driver in the field. I saw Newgarden beat about 10 Indycar drivers in a 2 hour go kart race about 10 years ago. I thought that kid would do well someday.
Why, during grid walk, doesn't Will ever get guys like Lewis, Sebs or Kimi to talk? Its like he won't even approach them.
True but who wouldn't he have embarrassed at the time? Hell has anyone ever put the Toro Rossi on the box besides him?
