Alright @dtalbott , what's up with the turtle racing? When one truck is trying to pass another and they're going nearly the same speed, why will they seesaw back and forth for miles instead of the guy on the right rolling off the gas for just a second so the guy on the right can complete the pass and quit holding up the 20 cars stuck behind? Is it a game? A big joke?

Just dumb people that aren't concerned about anyone else is my guess, just like cars doing the speed limit in the left lane holding everyone up. Assholes either way.

If two trucks are governed for the same speed they wont be exactly the same. Not all drivers will let off to let the passing guy by, i will just to keep the traffic flowing(i don't want a bunch of pissed off drivers behind me).

The guy in the right line is stupid, or he's driving an old Peterbilt. No trucks are allowed to pass guys driving old Peterbilts. It's a pride thing, I guess.

Now I act like part of my job is to keep traffic flowing, so I slow up if I am in the right lane.

Since I am slow, I tend to stay in the right lane. If I have room and I move left to let you merge onto the interstate, be polite and let me back into my right lane before you figure out how to accelerate.

Oh, and if I am in the left lane passing a Prime, Swift, or CR England truck, I really don't care how close you get. It won't make me go faster because the pedal is already on the floor. Be patient, and realize I am going back right as soon as I can, so don't even think of going right first.

I was behind that $#!+ all the way from Abilene to Midland a couple of months ago.

It made me want to act like an old codger vs an AT&T truck.:mad::mad:

Sometimes they're idiots but a lot of times if you are in a semi (or our RV) and you let off enough to drop 5 mph you'll lose 15-20 or more - especially going uphill - when the revs drop. It doesn't take much to totally screw up your drive. The cars can make up their lost time quickly and easily, a truck can't.

So for you truck guys, whenever a semi passes me, I flash my lights when it is safe for them to pull back into the right lane. It just seems lie the friendly thing to do to make their life a little less stressful. Most of them will flash the rear lights in return as they pull back in front of me. My question is do they really appreciate it or am I just being a dork that thinks I am cool with the truckers?

If you make a effort to let me pass, we cool and it's appriciated.

If it took me 5 miles for you to "let" me back over (after I moved over into the left lane to let you merge onto the interstate)? Go fuck a train.

Appreciated - even I like it and I've got a camera on the back so I can see when I'm clear.

I learned it from truckers when I was learning to drive in the late 70's. We did lots of miles in lots of places. As young as 13 pops would have me drive. Learned the codes of the road.

For real? Do you have showers at your job? I have so many questions! this seems like an unsustainable way to live

  16. I do the same but I turn my lights on and off instead. Should I be flashing instead? I never really thought about it until you just mentioned it.
