Get in touch with his lodge and they can tell you. If you don't know the exact lodge he was in, contact the lodge in his town and they'd be honored to tell you.
Wow. That's a hell of a story. Giving without needing that huge pat on the back that most are looking for is quite a testament.
How old are some of the younger members? Just curious at what age people start getting involved. My girl friend's father is a Mason/Shriner and a generally a solid person. I'm not sure how much of that can be attributed to being a member, but it's definitely perked my interest.
In my lodge we have several members in their early 20's. Members in my lodge tend to be older, but that may vary widely. I'm thinking though that older guys are more apt to want to give to their community, etc. (No disrespect intended for millenials). Again, in my own personal experience, it's one of the best things I've ever done. I've received help from fellow Masons in the most unlikely of places and instances.
So, I'm seriously thinking there isn't any mason in my area. Reading some of this thread, I've never seen a lodge or anything. Never heard of it before yesterday. Guess I need to do some investigating around my parts.
I buy my Christmas trees from the Masons. My neighbor across the street for many years (now deceased) was a Mason and a Ham. I was doing plus/wires/cap, etc. on one of my old junks one day and brought over a timing light, voltmeter and a few other things and helped me out (and he knew more about the job than I did), and when he left, he left all the tools and told me to keep them. Good guy. An old Mainer, too. I miss that guy. None of the people who have lived there since have been worth a damn.
