The 2008 cbr1000rr had a clutch basket recall on them. You can identify if your bike has had this recall performed simply by checking next to the vin stamp. There will be two center punch stamps into the frame.
Was the crankshaft - abnormal primary gear drive noise issue under extended warranty completed? It affected the 2008-09 CBR1000RR. It involved replacing crankshaft, bearings and few other things.
Extended warranty was good for 5 yrs from date of initial purchase. If you didn't get it done with the 5 year period would have to come out of pocket to get it fixed. I would call Honda and check if it is completed.
That or he can check the front of the frame next to the vin. There should be two marks on the frame if it was completed.
