    If you have to install aftermarket equipment that motorboating can get pretty expensive.

  9. Ya. It's really just a financially well off persons playground (boat owners). Some do well with sponsors (Miss Geico), hydro stuff you can make decent sponsor money. I know a very succesf offshore team boat owner and his goal is to not have to fund over $250k out of pocket after sponsor money, race in Ft Lauderdale is sick how much money is floating (or sometimes not). Poker runs are the new track days,always been around but have exploded.
