painting a passenger van

Hell yea. Looking forward to seeing some old friends. Been way too long. Gonna be a fun evening.

 

Got an estimate of 4 gallons of paint to do the job.

Plus reducer, plus clear coat, plus etc. Just the base color paint.

Oh, and the base color paint is $800 per gallon.

You only need a gallon of single stage white and half a gallon of sealer

Nason single stage white kit 200

Sealer with catalyst 50-80

 

I used to paint the bottom of a 50' trawler with two gallons of bottom paint which cost, maximum, $100 per gallon. And that was the good stuff.

How thick are they laying that paint? Are they adding gelatin so it doesn't run when thy put the paint on like frosting?

I forgot to add the urethane reducer which you'll use for both the paint and the sealer. 40 bucks

 

I neglected to mention that the van is red.

Metallic red.

 

if its red-just go with this color scheme..for black, use rhino bedliner-looks badass

 

I picked up a gallon of black plasti-dip to do my suburban, it was cheap. May not look the best but it looks better than rust.

 

if i can find a used late 90's Silverado within my "project" budget-that's exactly the direction im headed

 

Finish it off with some Umbrella Corp livery

 

Still around the same price for a red pearl single stage. Only a little bit more because red is a rarer mineral. For the toners.

And use a grey sealer instead of a white sealer

 

We have a "zombie walk" here in salt lake and there's a shit ton of people with those cars that show up all tact'ed out
