Doug Polen pretty much did that except when they tore his bike down not only was it legal, it was completely worn out and in desperate need of a rebuild.
Sounds like we'd be stuck with the same Basketcase, yet I take the opposite position. If the engine is legal, somebody is going to pat me on the back and help me put it back together. Maybe even the right way. I'll bring the beers. This is club racing, but without rules, it's one step closer to street racing.
Don't think they ever found exactly what the black substance covering the top of his pistons was. Wasn't just carbon from what I can remember. Can't get a dq if they don't know what to dq you for. Lol.
For items like that I suggest the riders talk before we have to get involved. When we're put in the position of having to make decisions no matter how big or small someone will be pissed off.
Remember when the Cobra 50's first came out, and were running in the same class as the PW50's? There was a story from the Loretta Lynn's finals, where the Cobras finished top two, with a PW third. The parents of the winner protested the PW50, saying it should not have finished as well as it did, and they must be cheating. Teardown found the PW piston installed backwards, making the bike run worse than it should have.
Great idea!! Unless you get protested on Sat and have to run the bike on Sun....that'd be a pain in the ass!!
Way more to the story revealed..... I'm driving home but now it's definitely a drama storm! Stay tuned
