i'll give them the whole resolve thing, that's for sure... but good times being over, is a relative term, no? i mean, at a high level, not to be crass, OUR collateral damage to all of this has been relatively tame (US terror attacks that you can count on two hands over the past 50 years compared to thousands of "muslim v. muslim" attacks and ethnic cleansings... a few thousand troops compared to millions of citizenry of their own countries). look at the last israeli military action v. the palestinian side... 100 troops die and like 8 civilians v. like 3000 people on the other side, and that was a worse ratio than the last half a dozen prior. and we're still getting what we want out of all of it. the whole "chaos in the streets" thing comes to mind. you think for a minute that when oil runs out we're gonna give a fuck at all... Saudi v. Iran, Sunni v. Shia, Hezbollah and ISIS? we'll give a fuck just about as much as we give a fuck about most of Africa.

the staggering number of CIA or DoS/DoD "influenced" or coerced or doctored or forced, regime changes that have come thru the ME and South America since WWII is unreal. and even a bunch of which would seem to directly contradict our #1 selling point (freely elected democratic president decides he wants to put his country on a path of self-reliance and end the one-sided trade/power deals they're getting with the US, all of a sudden he's evil, and a military coup ousts him, and then the country gets 2 decades of a military dictator that starts executing part of his populous and turns his country to total shit... but but, he's amiable to US though haha).

our good times in that regard will continue on. controlling the engineered chaos then would seem to become the fine point in all of this though i guess. too far out of line, and public opinion dictates we start acting (ISIS)... too much cohesion between groups and the powers that be start drumming up interventionist reasonings to justify a response (the first Assad). if you ever have time, you should read back thru the archives of The War Nerd (John Dolan aka Gary Brecher) from Pando.com and then Exiled.com. His historical analysis of war conflict and tribalism, especially British Imperialism tactics is eye opening. you can see of bunch of that nowadays with some of the things we do. like... going into a region, creating division along ethnic lines, empowering the minority, then watching the destruction unfold while taking what we want... England had that down to a science, its really astonishing actually.

We'll have to disagree. There are plenty of folks that practice Islam and are fine. However there is a significant number who think they need to spread Islam across the world using force or coercion. Sadly they are also supported by many others. One tactic they use is terrorism however the tactic is not the driving force it is their belief that spreading their religion by force is 'allahs' will. If the practictioners of Islam decided that anything other than peaceful conversions was bad the result would be a lot of peace.

But then maybe you will still disagree

Research has shown that there are hundreds of millions of muslims that support terrorism.
Ignorance of that fact doesn't change it.
There is no doubt that there are millions of muslims who believe that non-muslims need to convert or die, as proven by their actions in many countries, every damn day.
These are people who were born and raised in Islam, whose countries are run according to Islamic law, who know what they have been taught and what they believe.
Their religion drives every aspect of their lives.
Who the hell is anyone here to tell them they aren't true muslims?
    What arrogance.
    And stupidity.

actually that research to which you speak has been debunked as grossly false and its methods for even coming to that conclusion absurd, but hey... nice to see you add something of substance.

Of course I'll disagree, you're obviously wrong. They're using Islam as an excuse for their psycho behavior. The religion is a tool for them nothing more. The rhetoric the rabble rousers use to get the stupid on their side doesn't matter, the issue is the nutjobs doing the rousing. The entire point is terror and power, the religion they use to get it doesn't truly matter to them. Just because people rant about being true believers doesn't make it true, especially since Islam doesn't preach violence to spread the religion.

Jesus preached nothing but peace - yet Christians have used violence throughout history too. The problem wasn't Christianity then either, it was the people using it. Socialist terrorists in the 70's weren't true socialists, they used it as an excuse. The Spanish didn't truly massacre south americans to help convert them to Christianity, they were after the gold, religion was a good excuse though. This shit is no difference.

People really aren't that complicated, the core reasons are the same throughout history - power and money.

yea... the "research" he's talking about, is the basis for that moronic video, where the guy cites dumb questions like "are you muslim and think America is mean?" - that's a terrorist... "do you believe its wrong to leave your religion?" - that's a terrorist... and then tallies up all the dumb answers as unique individuals that adds up to like 10-15% of 1.5 billion people. its total horse shit and the equivalent to asking every christian if they thought abortion was immoral or gay marriage was immoral and then labelling every single person who answered yes as a terrorist. reminds me of this shit:

You don't even have to depend on polls. These countries have plenty of news sources that are available to read if you just google a bit, and you can easily translate them.
The information is all out there for those who care to look.
Then there are history books, of course.
    And current conflicts.

You don't even get that Islam is both religion and government.
It's obvious you know nothing about it.
