they are a self described socialist state though so what are you getting at?

I think he was pointing you towards the "democratic" part of the title.

    But serio
I think the key word, and the joke, is that they call themselves "Democratic."

Not sure that socialism in the Western European style is a bad thing. Private ownership of business is a key part of that.

i actually agree with you. What bothers me in this country is we can come up with billions of dollars for war and banker bailout but cant take care of mentally ill people. Cant take care of our soldiers, or our homeless. I find it hard to believe that it is not capitolistic to take care of the people of the country.

Sooo, it's obviously then that both of them don't have a clue about reality. :)

Last time I checked Kanye isn't running for President, if your candidate can't even get his own political description on point how can he be trusted to do the job?

    Who....Bernie Sanders?

And yet, how many people are supporting him?

    It's not, AFAIK.

I always thought that capitalism is merely an economic principle, not a moral one.

Socialism, or the tendency toward it, is like asking "how blue is blue?" It runs a whole range of the spectrum of that color. The color spectrum posted before could be called the complete political spectrum so everybody falls somewhere within that range. If one takes what a candidate calls himself, then looks at what that candidate's political history is, then you have your answer as to where that candidate is on the scale. Complicated? Not really if you look at it for awhile.

Many of us are called right wingers when almost all of us have some tendencies toward social actions. That doesn't mean much as far as the big picture is concerned, but it does place us, as individuals, somewhere within that political spectrum and some might call us socialists, because of that tiny propensity to do acts that could be construed as "social", if they don't know our history. Everybody is somewhere on the scale. Looking at what Bernie claims for himself, plus his history, puts him too far to the left end of the comfort zone for most Americans. I'm thinking, and certainly hoping, that the present supporters of both Bernie and Trump will wake up to the error of their thinking before they actually pull the voting lever. Both are squirrels that have fallen out of a tree.

    Nothing here to disagree with.

Can you provide any examples of BS supporting complete state ownership of all major industry, services and infrastructure?

I read an article about Bernie Sanders about two months ago describing his early political life while in college and immediately afterward when he was, or had been, a member of the Young Socialists Party which was a branch of the American Socialist Party. At that point in time he was an advocate of taking over some businesses like public utilities plus taking some of the wealth of the really rich people. I have not been successful in finding the article. If I can find it I will present it to you.

It probably doesn't matter at this point since he's changed his stated approach and is now supporting a more Nordic form of Socialism (Denmark, Sweden, etc.) which encourages private ownership and leans more toward more social programs such as free this and free that. I guess they are more toward the light blue end of the socialist scale huh? :D His popularity during his stint in the mayor's position in Burlington shows that he's probably not off the scale like he was in his youth. I think he was reelected two or three times while in that position.

As I've previously stated, I would not especially like to see him in the office of the President however, he's far and away better as a choice than the Hildibeast. She truly scares me.

  13. LOL. You keep referring to him as a coward for no reason. I know in your mind, the incident with the fake BLM people somehow shows that he's a coward, but it's doesn't. For all we know, his move was simply the one he thought was best to make.
Here you go with your same flawed claim that if someone speaks out against racism, somehow that makes them a racist.

You really nailed it with that quote. I used that exact sentence to one of my cohorts just the other day. :D
You might not realize it, but Bernie is your guy. Listen to his words. Look at his voting history. Don't just buy into the "evil socialist" characterization.

So, experts on Socialism, name a true socialist country.
Matter of fact, name two. There must be at least two examples of socialism out there.
    And they must be identical.

The fact that you think these groups need additional support and special concessions in order to be successful shows that you feel superior. But justify your racism any way that allows you to sleep at night...

Just as a matter of practicality, let's assume Bernie gets elected. Then what? He wants to redistribute wealth but he doesn't have the power to do that since Congress is responsible for laws including tax code. So he would need to rally all his "Democratic Socialist" supporters in congress, plus make some friends on the right to get that passed. I can't see that happening. He could do some damage with foreign policy although treaties need to be ratified by congress which limits some. He could break the economy with line item vetoes in the budget. He can't seem to manage his finances so I am sure the nation is safe with Bernie holding the credit card.

Bottom line is that Bernie can't deliver on the promises he is making and his supporters aren't smart enough to realize that.

I've thought about this, too. Bernie's answer is wrapped up into his call for a "political revolution" - a groundswell of public opinion and protest against the oligarchs and big money that run this country.

But consider this: the issue of money in politics is something that concerns the average Joe on both the right and the left. I think this might be more of a bipartisan issue than many of you consider.
