stocking hat shrinking

Maybe this belongs in the best/worst gifts thread, as it fits each. My friend gave me a beenie with my race # on it, but it is too big, made for some watermelon head guy. I tried washing and drying it, no change. It is just your basic acrylic stocking hat.
Can this be shrunk?

Yes. By taking it back and ordering the correct size!

 

Cotton shrinks. Plastic ... melts, if you get it hot enough

Damn. I guess it is doomed to sit in a drawer for eternity, another gift that is useless but haven't got guts to throw out. Or maybe I can grow some kind of afro to fill it out.

If it's a really cool hat, I think you should be able to find someone who sews, and could alter it's size for you.

 

you could wear it over your helmet.
