Crossplane R1 with a mid-pipe and GTYR slip ons. I measured the slipons at 90 DB's at idle, 98 DB's at 10,000ish RPMs. I'd like to switch to the Graves low mount for weight savings, but Graves claims 'over 105db's at 8,000 rpms'. Is that too loud? to add - the tracks around me don't have sound limits.
The low mount ones come out behind the footpegs right? Just sitting next to somebody with those things was pretty loud.
lol...I don't mind it...I'm thinking about my fellow riders WOW!! Yup... Loudon, Thompson, NYST, NJMP maybe a VIR or Summit thrown in....
pani has 107 stock, and i bet 110 with my own design open cans. sounds beasty but ain't nothing without good earplugs... reminds me of taking the tester home from work. hey metalhead, need the 2fiddy noise checked?
Jennings does. It seems like I remember VIR checking db, but im not sure. And you shouldn't have to worry about NYST.
I got nabbed at Roebling one year at a WERA event. I think I was in the upper teen's. IRRC, Brad O'Dell got popped on the same weekend for being over 130db.
Way back in the day the CRA did sound checks at tech. It was 105db at half of redline measured a foot away from the end of the exhaust. I have never seen so many racers pissed off when they were told they couldn't hit the track without packing/replacing their muffler.
What's the rule of thumb for a DB test? As the bike goes by full throttle? From a certain distance away?
