The photo is why I posted, it's spectacular. We have a woman in the club that takes photos during every ride....with an IPhone.
Correct procedure is for first to hear the car approaching to yell, "Car back!". Then everyone slots in to single file until the car passes. Riding two wide is generally safer for groups because it makes you more visible; it also allows you to chat with friends and blow snot rockets on them.
You're a brave man with all the drunks in this area. Not to mention all the pill popping junkies driving around like a zombie behind the wheel...
That looks like so much fun with a big group like that. Our Wednesday group ranges from 4-8 usually so we just get in a single pace line and go as fast as we can. Different experience, but still fun. The road surface looks good too, I'm jealous.
I've ridden in the desolet backroads in the country...... but at night!! Love it!! Not know if what you just heard & saw out the corner of eye just past your lighting was a Florida Panther, bobcat, fox, bear, etc.
That was our first wednesday night ride of the season and 38 people showed up. we start right after the time change. we leave at 5:30 and get back at 7 ish depending on wind conditions. at the end of last season we averaged 20.3 mph on a 28 mile ride. 14 miles to a park in the country and then back. last night was windy as shit and I averaged 16.5 mph for the first ride of the season. Mike, that road is out past Cargil by Middle Rd. On a bad night we see maybe 5 cars, sometime none. In the middle of the summer that group can be 60+.
