Sorry for your troubles. Wishing the best for your Mom and family. My wife came out of hers well, hopefully your Mom will also.
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. My mother has a long way to go, but she is making progress. When I arrived in Raleigh last Monday evening, she couldn't move her right side at all and her speech was almost impossible to understand. When I made the final trip back to Augusta Saturday night, she was able to raise her right hand over her shoulder and we could understand most of what she said. Her mind is still sharp and the physical will take some time. The tough part is her realizing that, after driving since she was 14, those days are over as is living alone. She will reach some level of self sustenance, but not enough that she can live totally alone. She has never wanted to be a burden to anyone, but we finally got her to understand that sometimes her not being a burden is more of a burden than she realizes. In any case, I have another round of trips to Raleigh for the next several months. We will be selling her house and making longer term arrangements. Thanks again, Rick Acree and family
Good luck. Prayers sent. Had a good friend, similar age and situation... over time, lots of physical and speech therapy, made a full recovery.
