I guess this won't be a popular opinion, but in my mind I'm convinced that Young faked the severity of his injuries and intentionally laid on the track in order to force the red flag. Wouldn't be the first rider to ever pull that sort of move...
EXACTLY. he learned from the best Mat Mladin. this rules sucks balls and needs to be changed!! if you crash and cause a red flag, you should NOT be allowed to re-enter the race. i have seen this in AMA racing too many times to count. just so happens that poor Blake, who couldn't move, found a new burst of energy as soon as the red came out.
If he did, it worked. Nobody else on the planet could have gone from last to first in that fashion though. After crashing.
He had the wind knocked out of him and could not move and is hurt. Would you lay down on the racing line, over the crest of a hill, while near the front, so you could get the race red flagged?
Everything followed the rule book to the letter. The guy started dead last, as in last. He was 4 at the end of the first lap. Absolutely nothing negative you can say about that or the way he rode the next 6 laps to WIN.
I know it has happened. I wouldnt be surprised if it happened again in the future But on the backside of the blind T11 crest, on the race line, with 40 other riders coming, is suicidal. No way he laid there on purpose. And at the end of the race on the warmup lap he had his leg dangling as if it were hurt. Same one he was limping on. If that was just acting as well, he deserves an oscar.
You guys that don't see the miraculous talent and whale size heart it took to pull that off are leading pretty fucking miserable lives...
