Would your faith be tested?

Here's a good BBC/PBS series on disbelief with the atheist Jonathan Miller. There's also an interview by Bill Moyers with him you can find online. A very smart, well-reasoned Brit. Maybe that's why the Brits drink so much!

Like that there was nothing, and then nothing caused a big bang which created everything.

 

Who said there was "nothing," and then who said there was a "big bang"? Who says everyone accepts that theory? I don't; the truth is that no one knows what happened, and we are all guessing, although there is certainly more credibility to theories arrived at scientifically.

 

Give it a rest.

 

My faith in the theory that noone can prove is better than your faith in the theory that noone can prove.....

Why 'better'? Why is it 'better'? Why not the same, no difference?

I am not sure. You are the one thats always bagging on religion. Why do you think your theory is better?

 

'bagging'- Could you mean "No diggity, I got to bag it up" by Dr. Dre?

And where did I say I had any theory at all? If you mean the 'big bang' theory, I indicated it was not happy with it. But, as I wrote, theories that at least have some scientific basis are more plausible. Having said that, I repeat: no one knows how the universe and all the other universes we haven't seen were formed. It's all guesswork, even if some of it is educated guesswork, it's still better than myths and superstitions (cosmic smoke and mirrors).

 

Okay, swell, then develop some sort of test to try me, perhaps something that doesn't leave me exhausted and mentally incapacitated.

 

I don't do unpaid assignements and it seems I would bee too late anyway.

 

Even if it hurts, I'm willing to be tested. Let me see if i can get someone to pay you...maybe one of the guys posting on this thread...

 

You could pass the offering plate.

 

You'd be tried by your peers... if you had any.

 

I have plenty here at this institute, but after several treatments, they can't remember anything.
