HANDY S.A.M. 1000 complete with drop out tail plate and cycle vise, 84" long table. Shopped for a lift at least the last 3 months and finally decided to go HANDY. I went back and forth on whether or not to buy a chinese knock off or a harbor freight lift. In the end I decided to support an american made product. HANDY had went out of business last august and was picked up by another company. However...... It was not without a slight bump in the road. 2nd time I let the lift up the up/down pedal came apart and the seal blew in it I called HANDY and they are sending me a new pedal assembly. They told me that had never happened before. You would know it I got that "one". I was pissed at first but considering it still works just leaks air if the line is kept attached. I should have the replacement pedal by weeks end. Enough bull here is a pic and my B-King approved of the ride!
I want a Handy lift so bad! It's a bitch laying on the concrete floor with a headlamp and trying to work.
The company I work for distributes handy here in Canada. Never had any issues with the ones that I have sold. One word of warning, don't run over the pedal with a forklift. That is not covered by warranty. And yes, the guy tried to claim that on a warranty.
+1  Mine's kinda like that. A sheet of plywood, couple of 2x4's and one 4x4. Took about 2 hrs. to build.
My Handy was built in 1972. Works for me every day. Like I tell new guys at the shop. Men stand up, dogs lay on the floor!
I've had my Handy lift for 15 years. Never had one problem with it in all that time...using it to maintain 12 bikes, two garden tractors and everything in between. Expensive, yes but it was one of the best decisions I've made when equiping my shop. Do wish I had the drop out section for the rear tire as mine pre-dates that design.
I'm pretty much on the same boat. I did acquired a storage unit within a city block. I think it may fit.
Had my Handy for a dozen years or so. Wonder why I didn't buy it many years earlier. Disassembled my 3/4" plywood and 2x4 fold-a-table and made it into the mount for my Coats 220. Expensive? Naw, not when amortized over the years. Deduct the chiropractic visits I didn't make and they are almost free!
I build one over the winter and it's made working on my 125 a LOT easier on the back. probably cost about $90 in materials all told (used good quality plywood).
