Not condoning his high horse statements, but he was saying if you are beating the $1/$2 NL CASH games consistently, then you should give the live games a shot. He wasnt referring to $1 tournaments.

As for playing online, I tried but seem to lose focus. Find myself surfing the interwebz rather than concentrating. Try to play at least 3 times week live.

    GL in your efforts.

What are the rules concerning the online money games now? I thought all of that stuff got banned a few years ago.

I played alot when I was unemployed and looking for work. I was over on the PokerStars server. I did ok in the tourneys, made final table in almost all of the 360 max tourneys. Also made final table in the 1000+ player tourneys too, just not nearly as often.

Played with real money, pretty much played for two months straight and didn't lose anything, or make anything.

I did alot of doubling up by playing in the 15-50$ double up one table tourneys.

Waiting for the table games to come in at the casino here in Harrisburg.

Edit: The banning of online gambling

When I remembered I had played poker online when looking for something to do while unemployed, I tried to create a new account and saw alot of things about it being banned. In fact I wasn't able to play for reael money. Then I remembered my old account info. Apparently old accounts were grandfathered??

  4. I do other things also, it actually helps me fold. :D

I lose focus doing everything, adult ADD can be hell sometimes. I do better when i can fold and click over to another tournament or internet or something. If i sit there and try to focus on just the single tournament/screen, i find myself playing way too many hands that i shouldnt have simply out of boredom.

  5. Im not sure how Full Tilt gets around the online gambling rules. I dont know if it is because they are hosted overseas or what.

I got a card with my bank statement talking about the government cracking down on online gambling by way of not being able to use your bank account or something like that.

    Anyone else get that?

Yeah, I used to play a lot in college. After I graduated and got a job, wife, house, etc. I stopped playing. I tried depositing some money a while back for the hell of it and my card was declined for the reason you described.

  8. I havent gotten anything like that...but i might any day now :D.

You can get around the whole deposit/cash out problem by using instant e-checks. Links directly to a checking account, take about 1-2 days to cash out and you can deposit instantly.

I have been playing at pokerstars for a few years now and haven't had any problems, but they just threatened to ban me for bringing up a guys stats from shark scope during a game, and for the past week I have been taking some terrible beats so I'm gonna go try full tilt for a while.

  10. Thats what i use .

When I've cashed out online, Full Tilt averages 3-5 days to have a check in my mailbox. Ultimate Bet took over 2 weeks but they did give a 10% bonus for the inconvenience.

exactly. wasn't trying to be on a high horse...never talked about whether or not I even play. i was trying to give a friendly warning that the caliber of players in brick and mortar joints may be a surprise to you.

and i was referring to $1/$2 blinds as pgood referred. saying that is about the lowest online level where you find good play.

it's all in my opinion....and you can wipe your ass with it if you want. don't matter to me.

    cheers. good luck.

No shit? How would they even now that you looked up a guy during a game since it runs off a completely different site? I used to LOVE shark scope!

I played in a tournament yesterday that paid $32,600 to the winner, $24,400 to 2nd, $14,800 to 3rd and it kept getting lower till the one who finished 1,350th got $30 (...yes, im talking about real cash money :D).

There were 10,680 people and i finished in 2,058th place. I was dealt pocket Ace's and flopped another one. I went all in after the flop with trip Aces and a guy called me with pocket 10's...and the SOB hit running 10's. The dude put me out by hitting 4 of a kind.

I did decent considering the size of the field, but i didnt get paid so i might as well have been dead last. :(

Oh well, it only cost me $2 to enter it since i got in by winning a satellite tournament.

I know gambling can be addictive, i use to frequent the casino's when i lived in southern Mississippi and saw it allthe time. As long as you do it in moderation, with "extra" money it isnt a problem. I consider it entertainment since im laid up.

It is when people skip house notes or max out credit cards that make it a serious problem.

LOL.. sorry about your bad beat Chris. When I played online (and pretty heavily) I would always see a pattern where I would run good for awhile but then see a horrendous amount of bad beats and watch my BR wither away. It would piss me off so bad I even broke my laptop display one time over a bad beat similar to what you just got. That's when I told myself it was time to calm down and stop playing.

Anyway, one of the keys to staying on top of things is bankroll management.

I suspect one day I'll get back in to it. For now, I'll just enjoy the track time.

.25/.50 online is about the same "Quality" of play as $2/$5 live.

i agree actually...i probably overstated having to go to $1/$2 to get real play. people risking $25-$50 at a table are playing quite a bit different than the $1 entry tournaments where they only have $1 invested at the table.

and the bankroll comment above is totally true also, imo. you have to protect that bankroll against big hits or bad beats.

because the guy was talking sh*t like he was the man so I looked up has stats and preceded to tell the whole table his ROI, how much cash he was down and his %. Then the mod came in and suspended me for a day and said if I get caught telling peoples stats again I'm banned WTF.

that's in the terms and conditions of full tilt also (that you can't use those while playing). i always assumed that when you're running the full tilt program it was looking to see if you were running any of the scope sites. and then assumed it was all electronic on the banning. not just using mods wading throught he millions of games.

yeah thats the first time its happened and I have been using shark scope for years, so I'm guessing the guy actually contacted a mod because I made him look like a fool

regardless I highly recommend using it, it instantly tells you alot of information about the guys your playing against.
