I know this was a recall on this bike and my recollection was that they installed a new gasket. Recently mine started leaking so I replaced it. I rode it 2 or 3 times then it leaked again. It shouldn't be too hard to install this gasket as it is 8 or 10 bolts and I tightened them down in a star pattern so I took it to a mechanic I know to have him replace it. He put some sort of gasket sealer type stuff that he thought would help prevent it from leaking. It did, for about 3 rides. Then a puddle of gas in my basement floor. Any suggestions? Do I need to replace the tank? Thanks in advance.

  2. make sure the retaining ring flange is flat and not distorted from over tightening the allen bolts.

90% sure the recall included the retaining ring as well, if the recall had not been done then you might have incompatible gasket and retaining ring

+1 It had a very low torque spec. Over tightening was a common problem with those tanks.
