Recently purchased a Penske 8987 (triple adjustable) and had my forks worked over @ Traxxion. I run the Michelin S2 front and H2 rear. What I am asking is how much to lower the front and how much to raise the rear, MM? Any help would be great. When it comes to suspension I am LOST.

traxxion should be able to help you out. Everybody has a differant number that works for them. we use 14 mm from the top of the fork cap to the triple and 342 eye to eye on the rear shock

hmmmm....my numbers are 12mm tubes above top clamp & 341mm eye to eye on the rear shock. Straight from the horse's mouth ;)

Thanks for the input, they are pretty close to the same numbers. Appreciate the feedback. I will be getting it ready for Barber, either of you going?

hmm, i am pretty curious about this myself. im running 5mm of fork through to top of the triples, and im not sure what the eye to eye length is on the penske, but from fully bottomed out i added 7mm of height to it. so what is the penske eye to eye when fully bottomed out? im running dunlops now, but ill be switching to pirellis next time around.

  8. Does anyone know off the top of there head how much to compensate between Michelins and Pirelli's? I'm doing the switch and don't have a set of Pirelli's left on the rim to measure.

I was wondering if anyone could give me the numbers on the rear shock installed on the bike? I am sure the 341 and 342mm is a measurement of the shock off of the bike. I am looking for the numbers once installed on the bike. Or would it be easier to take it back off of the bike and measure? Looking for an answer once again, help! I will go ahead and say thank you before hand. I know someone will have the answer.

I will be looking forward to meeting you #826 novice, I am #20 novice. Thanks for your help with my question. :D

same number it is eye to eye or the center of the top bolt to the center of the bottom bolt. The eye to eye number does not change on the bike you can set it before you put it on. Hint if you run a shim under the top clevis(the part the top bolt goes through the bottom adjuster stays in the shock enough. just subtract the amount of the shim I use a 6 mm shim on top of the clevis between the frame.

Here are some tire diameters from one of my posts.

You may have adjusted for tire sizes, for your test. A lot of people do not, and between the Mich and Dunlops there are some pretty big differences. Here is some more "secret" info that may actually help some of you.

    Hey Dan,

Moose tells me to run 31 lbs (r) and 30 (ft) with My Pirelli Supercorsa's...same sizes...I've not heard anyone running 32 psi with these tires....comments?

We used to run 29-30 in the rear and 31 to 32 in the front. The front was more sensitive to pressure, and when it was very cold it could even use a pound or two more.

good info dan. thanks. i can see that my geometry wont change much from switching to pirellis from dunlops.

the numbers the guys have above are for michelins, so does anyone have a good starting point for dunlops or pirellis?

  16. Would anyone be interested in a chart like this? I still need to put some info in it, I'm not including any 6.0" rear rims.

Why is there no sizes for michelin race tires? And the graph is a great idea but i can't read the numbers because it's too small.

Seems like I read somewhere that Metzeler and Pirelli race tires are the same except for the tread pattern and the name stamped on the side. Does anyone know if that's true? The real question being, will you need to change your setup when switching between those two?

your set up should be the same for those two tires.
