questions about header swaps

I have on 05 GSXR 600 with stock headers with a bolt on can. I want to put a slip on can on the bike. I am being told that headers off of an older model 1000 will go on that bike.?? If so, what years? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

03-04 gsxr 1k headers will work , if your powergain will be noticeable is a different story

 

Just so everyone knows, I picked up an 05 GSXR 1000 Titanium header today for $25 bux. It mounted right up to my 05 GSXR 600 with absolutely no problems. I will post pics of the complete system installed later next week.
