I didn't have any flag related issues in my 3 races. Flag moves, I go. But I didn't get a chance to watch any of the other starts. I'd have liked a split second more time between 1 and sideways. But no biggie.
For the F1 the flag when 1/4, stopped, then went full. For the A SB, the flag went WHILE the 1 board was verticle !!!!!! Good thing Rich G. took control of the helm by my 3rd race....
I never saw a two board go sideways at Nelson... wasn't a wera event, and I wasn't on the grid...everybody got off fine...
if you pop it in gear at the 2 board and bring the revs up at 1, then you should be ready. starts are equal for everyone whether they are messed up or not. I did notice some awkward stuff in a couple starts.
I see what you're saying Drew but how can you have an equal start when the 1 board is still verticle with a green flag thrown? And the partial green followed by a full-waiving green flag? FYI, these only occured for the 2nd wave Novices, not the experts.
ok gotcha. and there isn't really a partial green. if the flag moves you go. i wasnt out there though, so i guess i can't really comment on it. i did see some stuff while i was watching though. def. wasn't the normal stuff i'd have been used to
That's right! When I "throw" the green, I really throw it. The guys in VRG Group 2 knew enough to step on it when I did it. :up:
2 flags thrown, and i'm in the 2nd wave, i'm wfo! sorry, any other situation, i'd pit, but, this one i'll make my case after the race.
BTW - That's a recreation of the event. Yes, Johnny B hit the stand with the flag and literally ended up throwing the green flag. A day that shall live in infamy....
i started in the second row, and had the shit scared out of me. people was rippin past me inches away. it's my first year and the first time i had that happen. so if i read correctly if the green flag moves u can go. even if the one or two board are up. if that is the case, u fart and the flag moves we can go and not get a meatball sandwich
lol. jump starts and long ass pit-road stoppies. i wish someone would've got that on camera!! nothin like comin in for a stop-n -go and remembering at the top of 2nd "oh yea, i've gotta stop for these guys" lol
Last year I started a couple of races at Nelsons. I will not say I am the best and here is an example. I think it was about 1/2 way thru Sunday when I completely forgot about going sideways on the 1 board and just thru the green for an expert race. To my suprise nobody skipped a beat and the race was on. All starters will also drop a flag at some point in time, Just start naming them now.
