should i drain the coolant (distilled water and wetter) from my track bike this winter. will the wetter keep the water from freezing? thanks for you input.
Don't just drain and add coolant, run the engine and stir the mix. (goes without saying I know, but I do know of guys that did not)
yes....had a guy find out HARD way when transporting his bike from seattle to wsmc in winter...over the oregon/cali border i assume where it got down to 25 without wind chill and it was in back of truck!! you can just drain some out..say 1 qt worth...add 1qt back in of pure antifreeze...start bike and let get over 180 so thermostat opens and then you'll be ok!
or if you drain all the water and put in a premixed solution, you don't even need to start it. Now my question to you guys is, what about the gas tank?
I take all the race fuel out of the gas tank. Put in your favorite 93 pump gas with stabilizer, start and run the bike till its up to temp. Spray fogging oil into the motor until it stalls, turn the motor over and spray some more, drain the carbs and go have a beer. Topping off the tank will prevent condensation from forming inside. In the spring I'll pull the gas out and feed it to my lawn mower.
But if you add a 50-50 mixture of distilled water and antifreeze to your gas tank, it won't. Actually, race gas is nasty after it ages, I agree, drain all of it out of the fuel system, and if you can't, drain half, add pump gas (much gooder) and add a fuel preservative, mix, then start the motor and run it to distribute. You don't want this grief.
I bought a Keystone Outback 28KRS. It is just like this one. I'm pretty excited about it! We travel to the races with my 3 year old daughter so this should make it MUCH more comfortable. I already have the flat screen TV installed and a couple of EU2000i's to run it at the track.
