Smart Man>>>>>>>> Rule 1: Make a Budget Rule 2: Stick to the budget Rule 3: Refer to rule 1 and 2 over and over Most of us>>>>>>>> Rule 1: Spend all your savings on a bike Rule 2: Use all your credit cards for prepping bike Rule 3: Get loans for Trailers, tools, and such Rule 4: Get more credit cards for Gear and such Rule 5: Enter racing with all the greatest goodies Rule 6: Wreck and realize you have no more money to fix the bike Rule 7: Sell all your stuff really cheap to try and make a dent in your new found debt...... Live Happily ever after I started a smart man and made some common man errors. But the main reason im selling all my stuff is lack of work and other financial problems. at least i still have my cheap and economical RS 125......
Of course, the solution to not spending $20k your first year could always be to night race a 600 My starting costs after playing with a 600: Very Competitive 125: $5250 (take off a couple thousand for a good starter 125) 5x8 open flatbed trailer: $500 + $100 to "customize" it into a nice race trailer Tools: $700 for most everything Riding Gear: $1200 First set of spares, fluids, parts, etc: $500 Fancy stuff for pits (tables, chairs, awning): $300 Tow vehicle: I already had one, and you can attach a tow hitch to pretty much any CAR to tow an open trailer which weighs that little Total: around $8500 for a very competitive lightweight bike (and think of all the money you save in tires!)
