Oh mighty WERA BBS, Help. I need some concrete density info. I need to ballpark the total weight of something with X amount of standard, plain aggregate concrete. Who has an average XXXXX lbs per yard or YYYYY lbs per cu ft of concrete? Thanks,
Man, I used to know this stuff but it's been so long since I've thought about it. You have any concrete plants in your area? Call them and ask one of their PM's/ engineers (if they're worth a crap, they'll have a few). What are you trying to place on your slab?
Normal weight concrete is about 148lbs per cubic foot. Lightweight can get down in the 120s I think. Steve
Not on slab. Think if i had a box (eg. 10'x2'x3') and filled it with concrete how much would it weigh? Or what size box would I need to overcome the natrual floatation of a man sized object? Need to make concrete "boxes", and know what they will weigh, roughly so I have enough gumbas, errr forklift to pick them up. Guido edit: I love this place, as I was typing, the answer appeared. Thanks Guys.
shame people still are unable to use google.... http://www.google.com/search?num=100&hl=en&lr=&q=concrete+density&btnG=Search first link: http://hypertextbook.com/facts/1999/KatrinaJones.shtml McGraw-Hill Encyclopedia of Science and Technology. "Volume generally assumed for the density of hardened concrete is 150 lb./ft3. (2400 kg/m3)" three links down and you get a nifty calculator: http://www.allmeasures.com/Formulae/static/materials/11/density.htm
Feet can still identify a body. You people are sloppy. Mongo you are officially off my list of people to kill other people with.
Footprints off birth cert's aren't normally in a searchable database so no major worries. Besides that - what do I care if they identify the body? It's only me I don't want identified.
