Cruising down interstate in my 2016 F250 around 75 no issues as I usually run 76-80 hit an overpass seam and all the sudden all 4 wheels start hopping no control at all slow it down after luckily pulling over. nothing hanging down or anything noticeable. Honestly felt like all 4 tires exploded at once. Steering wheel snatching. truck has 220k mostly race trip or daily driving never off road or abused other than pulling lots of trailers most of its life.
Get it in the air, and check every steering and suspension component on it. Rear suspension too. I’d bet there a thing or two worn out.
Steering stabilizer recall on both my 17's My 250 never felt anything, 350 dually had a pretty good wobble once.
Ran into the same thing many years ago - Tysor and I were headed to Indy for a dirt track in his F250 with a trailer, got the front end light over a bridge joint, the whole front end shook like it was going to fall out. Dealer replaced the steering damper, basically. Turned out this was a TSB on that truck. Maybe a similar thing with yours?
It’s something to take to a guy who works on trucks, not someone who dumps oil and cross threads drain plugs.
The dreaded death wobble. Steering dampers are NOT the solution, just a bandaid. Tracbar, caster shims, worn components.
Dealership or a quality independent that works on these trucks. They'll know the components to look for.
The "death wobble" is a thing with solid front axle trucks. With the Fords, it's often caused by worn components related to the trackbar. I haven't worked on 2011 up, but the older trucks have a bushing on one end and a ball joint on the other. Either part wearing can cause it. It can also be affected by worn ball joints or tie rod ends.
Im just thankful because we ALMOST had a trailer and new kubota skiddy on the back. Definitely need to get lottery ticket. I have never felt less in control of a vehicle.
FWIW, Seem to remember (but it was a while ago) some trucks had a sudden ball joint dismantlement issues...
Thanks yall. Going to a trusted place that multiple area folks suggested. Probably impossible to know, but worst case scenario is this like a grand or like $10k? I remember when I first got the truck I had to drop $10k on complete fuel system, havent had another issue with that so trying to prepare my butthole.
