picked up an old one at a garage sale. I know SnapOn will only replace the internal gears under warranty. Has anyone upgraded to a finer tooth gear kit on a ratchet, or would they not fit? I looked around online and couldnt find anything 1/2" SL715 if it helps.
last time I sent in an older 3/8 drive for snapons warranty they sent me the latest version of the tool.
SO customer service is awesome. I had an older sl710 that wasn't in the best shape. Still ratcheted, just looked like crap. Emailed their CS and I had a new ratchet on my doorstep in two days.
the one i've dealt with in the past will only replace the internals. so if you have a 30+ year old ratchet with 32 teeth, you're getting the same kit replaced.
It depends on your Snap on guy/girl. My old owner was awesome. The new owner is such a complete dick that i won't buy a damn thing from him. Snap On won't do shit about him either.
I bought a Wera 3/8 ratchet a couple years ago, love it. Broke a tooth in it, contacted them and they sent me a new one, no questions asked. I will buy more of their tools for sure.
The last time I had to call to get tools fixed, they wanted to look up the purchase receipt to make sure that I was the original purchaser. They told me that they won’t warranty the purchase of used tools.
they're sending me a UPS label to ship my old one to them and evaluate for warranty. since it's old, they offered to replace it with a modern 80 tooth model. thanks for the tip.
My Snap On dealer told me the "Lifetime" warranty was more like a "Dog's Lifetime" warranty. Like 20 years.
