your elementary school didnt set the hook with cookies, cakes, or halloween treats?

Some things I hated as a kid... fruit juice & hawaiian punch.

Back in the day when I was a kid, when GS and KZ ruled the highways and muscle cars were old junk there was a bunch of different flavors of Hawaiian punches. Not just the red. :D

Truly great Tiramisu is heavenly. Best we ever had was at a tiny little cafe in Venice a few years back.

I’ve made it at home a few times. My favorite recipe is by Brooks Headley of Del Posto in NYC.

You just said about 3 different ways to make something you said earlier could only be made one way. Which is it?

Girls got to experience the glory of Devil Dogs last time we were back.

And tonight, Cora asked me to have some Moxie shipped out.

Drakes coffee cakes. Not the minis but the full size.

Hey Broome, you'll have to self-flagellate for a month just looking at this.

Venezia, Italia. And we had it like this in Rome, also delightful.

Complicated yet simple. Fucked it up many times to get it right. First, mix sugar with egg yolks, on a double boiler using steam to not overheat the eggs, usually takes around 10 minutes to get a ribbon stream, then add on a minute until its really thick. Cool it down 10 min, Cheese, and hard whipped cream folded in

I add the whipped whites in with the yolks after cooking then fold in softened mascarpone. It's pretty perishable due the whites but super light. I may try an Italian meringue some day to have it more stable.
Italian born MIL lived with us for 18 yrs. I'd come home to fresh pasta fazoli, manicotti and lasagna etc along w the desserts. She made everything from scratch and passed on 95% complete recipes like most of them.

Love those! Eat once every couple years as a reward type thing if I had a strenuous weekend. Other than that, typically cheesecake is my once a month no holds barred meal if I’m on a weight cut. But raspberry zingers do kick Twinkie ass

Your a lucky man, Italian/European cooking with n0t so many ingredients that lets the food speak for itself is pretty cool
