You like wheelies but don't like the Superhawk? I think I may have replaced a front tire for every 5 rears on mine.
I tell you what's really lame, bikes with side mount radiators,I don't care how good it sounds. And the rc51 was a buckboard with wheels. lol
Sportbikes have reached their useful apex of performance improvement. They’ve been way more capable than you can use on the street for probably 20 years. How many people could push a well maintained 2000 R6 with carbs to its limit even at the track? Not many. The utility/price factor isn’t there, that’s why sales are dead. If you want to see the proof, just compare the used market for sportbikes between different years. There isn’t really a high penalty for age if the condition of the bike is good and mileage is similar. People are going for higher utility/fun. If I only could have one bike, I’d much rather have a nice supermoto or dualsport than a sportbike. On the street fucking around in the mountains it’ll be just as fast, and I can also go be stupid on fireroads, do jumps, go down stairs, and generally be an asshole.
I just find it funny that people are arguing over opinions. "Soul" and "character" can entirely be left up to whatever makes YOU feel good.
I actually like the Superhawks. A fellow fizzer racer had a ratted one that was a prime candidate for a strip down-club build and I dragged my feet on getting it til he sold it to a street kid. I think it would have been a fun one for shits and giggles racing
I’ve got a ‘76 cb125s. I raced 1 night with it doing indoor flattrack. The xr100’s etc have better launch, but I could football tackle into them on the cb without a care. Took 3rd place
