One word..."anchor". Why not throw a small anchor overboard if you're going to be lounging on an air mattress drinking on the ocean. Oh well....everybody learns...

 

and tie it to what exactly? It is an air mattress, not a raft. I suppose you could tie it around your ankle and but that would only add to the stupid.

Probably that they'd drink some beers, float around and catch a cool buzz.

 

People float on inflatable shit in the water every day all over the world. Also, according to them and the article, it all worked out great and they had fun. Very Australian.

 

I'm sure it would be impossible to tie a loop around the raft and attach the anchor to it. That would never work...

 

I'm guessing they started in shallow water....which is where an anchor would have kept them......geeze you guys....you all sound like dirt dwellers.

 

They could have at least tied off to a beach whale.

 

You are assuming way more pre-panning than these guys were clearly capable of. When you say "anchor" these guys were more likely they find some random heavy object and a bit of cord that likely wouldn't have made it around the "raft" and down to the water.

 

Reminds me (somehow) of the man with a high voice going for a swim off an Australian beach.
