Summer on 3 acres just outside a small tourist/ski town in Montana, somewhere else in the winter. Its been Dana Point, CA forever, but we're trying to get to SE Asia from here on out. Not this winter, though. My backyard this morning.
Beautiful!!! I guess the weatherman wasn't kidding when forecasting a "significant" change for the Rocky Mountain region.
Breckenridge Colorado area got 6" on the 4th of July in '93 or' 94. Fireworks in a snow storm is kinda cool.
I just checked, to respond to this point, and was astonished to learn that the lowest point in Montana is only 1820 ASL. I would have guessed close to 5000. @motion what's the altitude there? Ski area, so I'm guessing 9000 minimum. That's what the lower altitude areas around Breckenridge are.
Red Lodge is at 5700'. The ski runs on top of the mountain in my photo are at 9000'. We shop in Billings, the largest city in Montana, which is at 3000'. They have mild winters and most summer days are 95 deg plus. The eastern part of the state is low altitude prairie with mild winters.
Seems like they pulled the spacing standard from 2 different points. Edit: Actually the stiles are all equispaced with disregard of the posts. Esthetics are in the eye of the beholder. I'm old school Bud. Rock on.
The house was built by a San Francisco builder as his retirement home. They decided not to live in it, and we bought it. Agreed, they did a poor job. I don't know what I'm doing and could def do better. That deck is an absolute mess after only 13 years!
Damn. Needless to say I have never been anywhere near there. I always thought it was all flat (excluding mountains) and the roads had no turns. Florida in the north.
Good lord. I lived in Billings when I was a kid (80's) and we never saw 90's in the summer. Winters were anything but mild. The times, they are a changin'.
