Have to add several of my family were very much into racing from circle to drag strip back in the day. Competing, building engines and cars etc. I don't think the average white dude quite understands the level of racism there was and still is around motorsport.

My dad took my mom to a race at Ace Speedway way back and when the song locomotion came on the white folks started singing "Everyone is doing the nigger motion." Mom n pop and the couple they were with broke bottles to protect themselves as they left.



So I'm gonna assume the defenders of this little flag either don't know the history of it and racism in motorsports or know it and don't care. The two are intertwined so really, stop making excuses. You can't have one without the other.

I’d be curious how long ago “way back when” was, because even in our happy little corner of the globe up here, NEVER have I seen anything but pure camaraderie in the paddock. I don’t think a single non-honky racer ever felt anything but welcome.
