I am looking for a second bike and all available feedback on this beast/beauty. It will be used for both street and trackday action. thanks
I considered it for the same-street and trackday. I instead bought a new old stock 2018 RSV4 RR for $10k less.
@Gixxerguy855 Talk to the guys down at AF1 in Austin. I'm sure they'll make a deal at the moment. PM me if you want the owner's number.
I’ve got a 2019 Tuono Factory for the street, and 2016 RSV4 RF for the track. Incredible, unbelievable bikes. Couldn’t be happier. I really love the Tuono because it offers superbike performance with all-day comfort. RSV4 is my favorite track bike ever, it just does everything really well, and the sound is just completely sick. Absolutely in love with both. I’ve owned seven different Aprilias since 2008. Earlier models had some mechanical issues, but newer ones have been quite flawless for me.
I picked up a 2018 RSV4 RF Limited Edition and traded in my 2015 RSV4. The 2015 was quite a bike but the 2018 is truly fantastic. My buddy picked up a 2018 Tuono. I would check out Southeast motorcycles in Savannah, GA. and Xtreme Powersports(largest Aprilia dealer in US). They both offer some fantastic deals.
I have a 2016. Bike is awesome, dealers are very much hit and miss. I had a terrible experience with Xtreme in MD, would reccomend avoiding them for anything. Ordering parts from AF1 has been great though. Make sure you understand the maintenance requirements for track use. Its basically both a top end and gearbox rebuild at 6k kms. AF1 has the parts and tools conveniently listed on their website, they're not cheap though. Aprilia also has all of their racing setup manuals posted on their website, there's a lot of good info in there. All that said, there's a reason why you'll see 20 R1s and 15 ZX10s for every RSV4 at any given race / trackday.
Somewhat unrelated, but I've got a Gen2 Tuono, and despite the ridiculously notchy gearbox, wooden brakes, horrible suspension, and propensity to not start if you looked at it wrong, I absolutely love it. The sound is so intoxicating, I made it my ring tone, and it does wheelies for miles.
Buy a Panigale V4. It'll hold up together mechanically better, less prone to catastrophic failure and the residual values are MUCH better. I love the Aprilias too, but now that Ducati has a v4, I'm not sure I'd buy an Aprilia between the build quality, depreciation and dealer network differences.
this was one bike as far as i know.. hardly anything to get your panties twisted about. that being said, track prepping a newer ducati superbike is a PITA, and the aprilia V4 sounds WORLDS better than the Duc V4... from someone that’s owned both.
Ok I’m not getting no stimulus check but hopefully someone needing one will have a Tuono for sale soon. Wasn’t what I was looking for but I want one now.
