So overall, I liked the movie. Lots of action and shit blowing up. But my question is, why were the special effects so shitty? It is a Lionsgate movie with loads of famous actors in it, so I doubt it was a budget thing. But the special effects were shit. I put off watching it for the longest time because of how fake shit looked in the trailer. For comparison, how long ago was it that the first Transformers movie was made? Those special effects were on point. It looked like real robots fighting and shit. Now, however many years later, we have a movie that looks like it was made with the “Action Movie” iPhone app that lets you set shit on fire in your pictures.
Well, back in the original movie, they mixed in stock footage and actual air combat to create believable scenes. Didn't bother with the new one
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074899/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_3 A sequel would be the next battle after Midway. This is a re-telling of the event.
Wasn't a great fan of the remake. Had a hard time seeing Woody Harrelson as Nimitz, till I realized he looked more like the Admiral than Fonda did... I HATED the character Dick whatever his name was who played the squadron leader. No-one this side of Webcrush can be that f'kin annoying and in dire need of a throat punch, and the Dolittle Raiders bit was poorly done and seemed just "stuck in there" and incomplete. Also, Aaron Eckhart has to be the worst actor ever. However, Midways' biggest problem was that it tried to span all the way from Pearl, through Coral Sea and finally to Midway, and it was rushed and choppy to the point that everything was incomplete. Should've just stuck with the story it was named after......
