Don’t you feel like you’re playing with fire though? I want to smoke cigars when I golf or am playing cards but I can’t see it going well.
Been a long time stalker on this post for years. Stopped and started many times, but both the wife and I gave it up around the Cinco De Mayo weekend this year. Just worked out that way. We had a family reunion coming up in June and wanted to be done with it. Not having to hide it, the smell, mouthwash before the inlaws came over all of that - done. Feel great. Funny thing is, I have been a semi-serious cyclist (bicycle) for about 3 years now and would bust my ass every Saturday and Sunday morning and blow that crud out of my lungs, then by about noon I'd have my first cig. How stupid is that? Needless to say my cycling average speed has increased quite a bit since quitting and I don't have that annoying little smokers cough anymore either. Anyway, thanks for keeping this post chugging along and so far - so good for me and the missus. Blood pressure lowered as well, and we switched to keto diet pretty much at the same time and have lost a bunch of weight. I guess it was just time for some wholesale lifestyle changes and I'm grateful we both were able to succeed and this post was a part of it as I would keep checking in every so often.
Huh... 12 year anniversary was a couple of days ago. I forgot about it. Harsher realization is I've been on this beeb for that f****n long! That might be worse than the cancer sticks. Tip of the cap to the poster above me... a reminder we all hit the finish line eventually no matter how we race.
Still tobacco free since Oct 2012 (quit on my birthday before my Son was born). Now I'm starting to lose the pounds I've put on since then. I've gained about 10lbs/year (Due to a number of factors.....) since quitting, but have dropped 20 since this past October. I'm still an out of shape fatty, but I'm heading in the right direction. Havn't had any "cravings" in a couple years, Although I wouln't mind trusting myself to have a cigar once in a while while fishing, or golfing etc, but I know I'd be right back into it again. Other than that I've got zero interest in it.
12 years for me. Or something close to that. Of course I'm currently recovering from the flu and coughing my brains out...
