If the future of MA is contingent on the bagger cup it's all over but the crying

People : MA needs to do something different to attract new fans.

    MA: 2020 bagger class

Same people: This is discraceful, roadracing is dead!

isn’t this class only running at Laguna? How many thousands of Harley dudes are running around Daytona during bike week and never set foot into the track? Do you think they would just because some slow ass baggers are circulating around the track?

It's worth a try. This might be a dud or it may give them some new fans.

People are acting like MA just fucked their mom.

That’s because if they want to see baggers dragging hard parts and crashing, they’d go to deals gap. The 883 class and then the xr1200 class showcased close riding and individual skill. That’s what made those classes fun to watch.

People were bitching about the XR classes that were around back then as well.

    See a pattern here?

Nope because those who remembered the 883 class were excited to see it be revived with the xr1200. HD is a dying company because the young kids aren’t buying them and the old farts are dying. Racing baggers isn’t going to get new fans in. Who is going to spend the money on buying and racing these things? Might as well start an OCC class too while they’re at it.

Calm down chicken littles, the sky is not falling. It reads like it's a one off race at the dry lake. Not running with WSBK or motogp this year and they need to fill the schedule and draw in the casual fans.
It's like Slayer coming to town and adding a weird, local band with limited nationwide appeal as the band to open for the opening band. Slayer, the Menzingers, Zeke and Trampled by Turtles.

I'd prefer a UJM "superbike" class with something like CB1000Rs, MT-10s and new Katanas but someone is paying to put this race on and money talks.

It's always been this way. The racing crowd goes to the track.
The Harley crowd hangs in town and poses with their hogs.
