I am trying to figure out something and need some help. My drive way is about 300' long. From the road I have about 60' of clearing then the driveway enters a solid tree line. Tree line is about 100' long and then the trees open for my yard and house and another 140 feet of driveway. I do NOT have any type of alarm system on the house and don't really want one. What I want to do is setup some kind of sensor in the trees with a laser that shoots across the driveway so I can get alerts as to when someone drives up my driveway. Alerts - I would prefer to be delivered via text so I can check camera's and see who it is. I know I can easily do this with an alarm panel and so on, but again, don't really want an alarm system and/or monitoring cost monthly, etc. Any ideas?
Check Simply Safe. Yeah I know it is an alarm system, but you don't have to have it monitored and they may have the notification you want.
Oh...check Ring. The doorbell we have runs off a rechargable battery and has video. It does need wifi to operate though.
I had a very similar driveway and house configuration. So I hung a game camera that texted photos to my phone and email account when tripped
Another solution would be to have an IR beam across the entire approach. Trip the beam, get notified via wireless, remote review of video. High enough to be above dogs/cats/squirrels. Low enough that cars and pedestrians trip it.
Yes. The cameras are installed around the house. I can check the DVR for motion, but I'd rather not, and just pull it up live when I'm notified someone is there.
