Ok I've got a good winter topic. Recently the wife decided to buy a PS4. It was a nice surprise and we haven't played games for, well...a real long time. So I'm not up on the new stuff and in particular, racing games. So I got WRC8 (or whatever the newest one is) and it's very fun game. I've played it for a few days now but I'm struggling to get a good feel with the controller. Is a must-have to get a steering wheel for racing games? I'm thinking it would be a lot better but before I buy one I'm looking for advice. Is it a must-have and makes it that much better? Does it drive similar to a real car? What is a good one to get? Oh also, what other racing games rock? GT, Forza, MotoGP?
Having a wheel and pedals definitely will help but it's a bit of a setup. Not much in the way of sim driving with consoles that I've seen. Gran Tourismo is your go-to for PS4. I've been getting some Dirt 4 in and it's pretty fun. MotoGP is fun but the physics... well, ya know. If you get into playing Call of Duty lmk and we can link up.
I pretty much only play Gran Turismo Sport these days. I did take a break for a few and try out Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order, it was OK.
I’m still rocking a PS2 so I can keep playing the best racing game ever, Tourist Trophy. Don’t know if it’s compatible with the 3 or 4.
Soooo what are some of your ‘handles’ on gran turismo sport? i wanna know whio’s all wreckin’ me. im an A driver with S ranking, usually,
I still think that was the best game to simulate motorcycle riding on any gaming device. Maybe the newer Motogp games are better now.
Nope. I kept a PS2 up until a year ago just for that game. No one has replicated it for one reason. I believe the guy from gran turismo designed it and he said he’d never do another. It was the best. I don’t know how the newer games can’t look at the code and figure out what he did.
Assetto Corsa; iracing I haven't played project cars since I played Asseto Corsa. Built a dedicated PC for it, not telling how much is in my rig. Less than a set of nice wheels and tires though...
Yeah it was the guy from Gran Turismo. And while Im geeking out, I loved the Seven Stars Honda 1000rr.
A good wheel and pedals is the Logitech g29. Had those for my sim racing but they are also ps4 compat. Good quality and feel for about 200.
I don't have any input on a steering wheel but I would offer a piece of advice: If a friend asks you if you want to try his new PC, full-chassis racing sim.....DON'T....
